January 1987 - December 1987 : After graduateded from the Nautical College, Enlisted in the Italian Navy for the mandatory service.  Speed boat driver course, rescue swimmer, served in the Coast Guard.

 

January 1988 - April 1988: Admitted to the Officer's Course in the Italian Naval Academy, Graduated Ensign ( 82° course AUC Stato Maggiore ) Specialized as Communications and Navigating Officer.

 

April 1988-April 1989: Served as Navigating Officer aboard Frigate A/S “Zeffiro”

 

April 1989- September 1989: Diving Officers Course at COMSUBIN (Comando Subacquei Incursori) qualified as Diving Officer (oxygen, air, Nitrox)

 

September 1989 – May 1991: Served in the Divers Operating Group (GOS) as Diving Officer.
Involved in NATO exercises, Salvage training and mines clearing operations. Based in Varignano COMSUBIN, La Spezia, embarked during diving missions on board Diving Support Ship “Cavezzale” and “Anteo”. Selected to attend the Deep Diving training, qualified as Deep Sea Diver - Heliox.

 

May 1991: Honourable Discharge as Lieutenant (Junior Grade), Italian Navy.
